Sets the technical direction of the team and its first product, A-EYE — and keeps the engineering honest to what co-designers actually need, not to what's easiest to build.

01 Education 學歷

Ken is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in the Department of Electrical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong, majoring in Information Engineering. He has hands-on experience in computer vision, machine learning, and full-stack software development. He is an undergraduate member of CALAS (the CityUHK Architecture Laboratory for Arithmetic and Security) and an alumnus of the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education (HKAGE). His early gifted education background laid the foundation for his path from national coding competitions to applied accessibility research. 他是 CALAS(香港城市大學算術與安全架構實驗室)的本科生成員,亦為香港資優教育學苑(HKAGE)學員。

His awards include: 2025 Hong Kong Outstanding Teen; 2nd Young STEAM Talent Award (YSTA) — Young STEAM Talent of the Year; 2024 Asia Pacific ICT Alliance Awards (APICTA) — Senior Student Projects: Applications: WINNER; 2024 Hong Kong ICT Awards (HKICTA) — Student Innovation Award: Senior Secondary Group Gold Award.

02 About 簡介

As Founder and Technology Director of Evenly Lab, Ken leads the technical vision and engineering of A-EYE, the in-store navigation system co-developed with low-vision elders. His work spans the full stack: computer vision models that recognise shelf layout and product cues; on-device deep learning pipelines tuned for the older phones his co-designers carry; and a voice-first interface designed around the phrases real users actually say. He writes most of the core voice-interface logic himself.

Before founding Evenly Lab, Ken built experience in STEAM education and applied engineering. He served as a part-time Software Engineer in Full-Stack Web Development at the SEED Foundation; a STEAM Tutor in Coding at ELCHK Lutheran Secondary School; and a STEAM Tutor in Coding & Robotics at Hour of Code HK. He completed a Computer Vision Software Engineer internship at Butler Asia, and has volunteered as a STEAM Instructor with Hour of Code HK since 2023.

03 Why Evenly Lab

Ken started Evenly Lab because he saw the gap between what was technically advanced and what people could actually use in his previous projects. Good models, clean code, and polished demos do not matter if the person in aisle three cannot use them on the phone in her hand. A-EYE is his attempt to put co-designers at the centre of the engineering process, not at the end. The team has already secured 3 Third Prizes across two categories of the 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the HKUST One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition Guangzhou 2025, and reached the top 5 Hong Kong teams in the 2026 PHBS-CJBS Global Pitch Competition - Hong Kong Chapter. His technical background in computer vision, deep learning, and full-stack development keeps A-EYE's engineering grounded in what co-designers actually need — not what is easiest to build.

"The hardest part of building assistive tech is not the model. It is sitting beside the person who will use it and letting her change everything you thought you knew."
